Knowledge Contribution Value.
We have currencies for money.
We have units for energy.
We have measures for time.
We have built the entire modern economy on these three pillars.
Yet there is a fourth pillar — one that powers everything we create, every decision we make, and everything we are building for the AI era — that has never had a unit.
It has been invisible. Unmeasured. Unrecognised.
That pillar is
trusted knowledge.
Today, we change that.
That is why we created kCv.
Knowledge Contribution Value.
kCv is a confidence and evidentiary-strength score — a provenance-backed measure of how much to trust the evidence chain behind a knowledge molecule. It reflects origin, lineage, verification state, and the integrity of the custody record.
kCv is not a price. The actual economic amount — quantity, rate, and currency — lives in a separate Settlement Value, calculated at the point of a Settlement Event using kCv as an input.
The Settlement Event captures the value. kCv scores how much to trust the evidence behind it.
How does it work?
A piece of knowledge enters the AuthOrigin network as a provenance-aware molecule.
Its origin is established.
Its identity is canonicalised.
Its lineage can be followed.
Its relationships and subsequent use can be recorded.
From that provenance, contribution and context, a kCv score is established — a confidence measure of the evidence chain.
That score then informs a Settlement Value, which can become part of an economic exchange.
From knowledge to value.
Imagine a creator contributes trusted knowledge.
An organisation or intelligent system uses that knowledge.
Something of value is created.
Instead of losing the connection to the original contribution, AuthOrigin preserves the provenance through the transaction.
The value can follow the knowledge.

And this is where it becomes different.
Today, knowledge is routinely copied without attribution, absorbed without recognition and used without a mechanism for returning value to its source.
(ai) accelerates that problem.
kCv provides another model.
When trusted knowledge creates value, the provenance of that knowledge remains connected to the economic transaction.
Creators can be recognised.
Contributors can participate.
Organisations can account for knowledge assets.
And intelligent systems can operate within an economy where knowledge has measurable value.
kCv is not a price, and not a cryptocurrency.
kCv is a confidence score — it measures the evidentiary strength of a molecule's provenance and settlement evidence chain.
The economic amount — the actual Settlement Value — is a separate, downstream calculation that uses kCv as a key input alongside rights, policy, and commercial terms.
Money settles the transaction. kCv scores the trust behind it.
kCv never claims the data is legally exempt — only that the verification architecture is privacy-preserving.
That distinction matters.
Because the AI economy needs to know not only how much money changed hands, but how trustworthy the evidence behind it actually was.
The knowledge economy needs a unit of value.
The internet gave us information at global scale.
(ai) gives us intelligence at global scale.
Now we need an economic infrastructure capable of recognising the value flowing through it.
kCv is that evidentiary score.
Knowledge Contribution Value.
A common way to express how much to trust the provenance behind a knowledge claim.
A way for that trust to be quantified and made machine-readable.
A way for Settlement Values to be derived from it — fairly, transparently, and in a permanently auditable way.
And ultimately, a way for the knowledge economy to become an actual economy — built on evidence, not assumption.
Knowledge has an origin.
Origin creates trust.
Trust creates value.
And value can move.
The knowledge economy needs a trust score.
kCv is the evidentiary foundation — Settlement Value is the economy.
